Ho Chi Minh Kimchi
2016, digital video, sound, 16:9, 6 mins.
Spurned by a general interest in the almost parallel histories of modern Korea and Vietnam and a curiosity about the Korean community that has taken shape in Ho Chi Minh City during the last twenty-five years (but much more recently, in particular, given Vietnam's economic boom), I spent three weeks conducting fieldwork in the city and produced the above short documentary about a kimchi factory.
Official Selection, San Diego Asian Film Festival (2016)
Also screened at the Hanoi Doc Lab and in the Colorado Dragon Film Festival (paired with the state premiere of Edward Yang's Taipei Story).
